AMAZING CONDITIONS AS WE HEAD INTO THE HOLIDAYS
The extreme cold means that the whole lake is now frozen and clear ice on most of the lake.
The ice we checked today between Abraham Slabs and the Ice Bubbles Parking lot was over 18 cm thick (we only check to that depth, it appears to be much thicker). The cold temperatures have made for some clear ice with great bubbles this year.
The winds have picked up over the past 24 hours clearing most of the snow that was left. The weather forecast includes warmer days ahead, potentially reaching temperatures above 5C over the next few days.
Where to Go
Preacher’s Point and Cline Landing are mostly snow-covered while the area from Abraham Slabs to the Ice Bubbles Parking Lot are in great shape.
Ice Safety
We share this information to help visitors to the area plan their trip. This represents the conditions we have observed at a specific point in time. Ice safety depends on many more factors than just ice conditions and anybody going on the ice should have the knowledge and experience required to assess the risks, or should consider going with a guide.
