Casual Guide

Your Role

You’ll be working directly with guests, delivering great experiences and ensuring a safe environment.

All guides are expected to drive charters and shuttles in addition to guiding tours. You can focus on specific areas like hiking, sightseeing or food but we prefer guides who are willing to cross-train and deliver the full roster of adventures we offer.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for anything and everything involved in delivering tours. This includes:

• Keeping a safe work environment;
• Preparing and organizing all the materials and supplies required for the tour;
• Engaging guests and promoting all aspects of Nordegg Adventures;
• Operating a 16-passenger bus, passenger van or car in a safe, legal and comfortable manner;
• Delivering tours according to established itineraries;
• Managing cash, product inventory and company equipment;
• Cleaning the vehicles, checking equipment and filing reports after each tour;
• Following processes to ensure a great guest experience;
• Recommending new tours and activities based on market feedback;
• Helping the team whenever needed.

About You

You’re the right person if you have:

• A love for the outdoors and the Nordegg & Abraham Lake region;
• An obsession with providing every guest with a great experience;
• A love for sharing and connecting with people;
• Group management skills, including being a confident and engaging public speaker;
• Knowledge of the local area and a natural curiosity to explore;
• The ability to work independently for long hours in all kinds of weather conditions;
• A willingness to go above and beyond, to jump in and get your hands dirty;
• The ability to think on your feet;
• The desire to learn and the willingness to ask for help;
• Positive energy, pride in everything you do and outstanding work ethic;
• A class 4 Alberta driver’s license with a clean record;
• A current standard first aid certificate;
• The ability to do the activities offered on tours and to lift 50 pounds;

The Details

This is a casual position with no guaranteed hours. You must be available to work various shifts including Saturdays and evenings.

We provide in-house training to make sure you are comfortable driving our vehicles and that you have the tools needed to deliver our tours. Specific tours may require that you obtain additional certifications before you can be considered to guide them.

Starting wage is $20 per hour.
