Another Great Day in Banff

We had a great day in Banff this past weekend exploring the area with a group of international students from the Red Deer Public School District and the Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools. The students came from all over the world and for many, this was their first visit to the Canadian Rockies.

We headed directly to Lake Minnewanka for a picnic lunch along the shores. It was cool and cloudy but the fresh air over lunch was a great way to wake up after the drive from Red Deer. From there half the group went for a soak at the Banff Upper Hot Springs while the rest of the group went on a tour of the Banff Springs Hotel.

We regrouped at the Sulphur Mountain Gondola. The walk along the boardwalk to Sanson’s Peak was a highlight for most. Lots of smiles as the group enjoyed the short walk, taking many stops for pictures along the way.

The Banff Gondola is always a guest favourite on sightseeing tours to the area. With easy access to Sanson’s Peak (elevation of 2,256 m) and great views of the Town of Banff, Tunnel Mountain, Cascade Mountain and the Banff Springs Golf Course it’s easy to see why.

We wrapped up the day with a stop at Bow Falls and some free time in town for dinner and shopping before heading back to Red Deer.
