Strong ice and interesting ice features across the lake

The ice is holding out well after a week of warm temperatures. Despite a week of unseasonably warm weather, the ice remains strong at 40+ cm in the areas we checked. Be aware that there are drainage holes you need to watch out for as you explore the lake. The transitions from the shore to the lake can be tricky to navigate in areas with some fairly wide cracks, so pick those low-angle ramps.

There are some very interesting ice features to discover around the lake for those willing to explore.

Where to Go

Cline Landing is still the best option for those who are less familiar with ice safety.

The Ice Bubbles Parking Lot, Hoodoo Creek, Abraham Slabs and Cline Landing all have great ice features to discover but you will have to be willing to explore a bit.
