Abraham Lake Ice Conditions – January 14 2024

Home » Abraham Lake Ice Conditions – January 14 2024

Some excellent patches of bubbles to be found, as well as interesting features due to the lake freezing in a snowstorm.

A week of extremely cold temperatures means the freeze-up has finally happened. The ice is already much thicker than 15 cm in the areas we checked out.

The lake froze in a snow storm, meaning you will find some interesting features and whiter ice than usual. There is however clear ice and great bubble patches to be found from all the usual access points – it may just take a bit of effort and exploring. Have fun!

Where to Go

Cline Landing, Abraham Slabs and the Ice Bubbles Parking Lot all have great bubble patches but you may have to put in a bit of effort in your search. As always, make sure to bring your ice screw and check the ice conditions as you go if you’re heading out without a guide.
