Snowshoes & Winter Hikes

Explore frozen waterfalls, canyons and snow-covered forests

Winter is magical. Grab a pair of snowshoes or ice cleats and head out for an adventure.

The dry climate of the region makes it the ideal place for winter hikes. Trails like Siffleur Falls, Cline River Canyon and Crescent Falls rarely need more than ice cleats to be enjoyed all season long.

If you’re looking to try snowshoeing, trails near Nordegg like Lakeview or Shunda Meadows are often a great place to start while the Thompson Creek area offers more consistent snow coverage throughout the season.

Either way, you’ll get to experience an adventure in a winter wonderland.

Looking for a guide? Nordegg Adventures and Coaching With Lucinda offer guided hikes throughout the season.

We acknowledge that the land on which we gather, explore and adventure is home to the Îyârhe Nakoda First Nation and the Smallboy Mountain Cree, part of the Treaty 6 and Treaty 8 Territories, part of the Métis Nation of Alberta Region 3, and has been the traditional meeting ground for many Indigenous Peoples since time immemorial. We are grateful for the stewardship of these lands along with the knowledge, traditions, and teachings that have been passed down through generations.
