The region sees quick changes of weather along with a variety of conditions depending on where you are. Even the short drive from Nordegg to Abraham Lake can make the difference between being in a storm and a sunny day.


Finding a reliable weather forecast for the region can be a challenge, mainly due to the lack of weather stations available to forecasters covering a large a diverse region. We use Windy and SpotWx as our main forecasting tools since they provide more localized forecasts once you become familiar with their features and the region.

ABRAHAM LAKE Forecast
Abraham Lake is where the mountain weather systems meet the prairie weather systems. Forecasting what the weather will be like that day is often a challenge and things can look completely different if you are at Preacher’s Point or at Windy Point.
One of the best forecasts is usually from mountain-forecast.com for the base of Mount Michener, near one of the best areas for the ice bubbles. For other areas, use tools like Windy and SpotWx to find more localized forecasts. Make sure to also have a look at the forecasts for Saskatchewan River Crossing and the Icefields Parkway to see what’s happening to the west.

511 Alberta is your best option for current road conditions in the region. They also have a webcam at the Nordegg Ranger Station.
For those looking to head out on the water, rivers.alberta.ca provides current information on flow level and the water level on Abraham Lake. They also have webcams that are updated daily at the Bighorn River, Cline River and Siffleur River.
